Lenskart Dress Code Controversy Escalates as BJP Leader Nazia Elahi Khan Confronts Management Over Religious Discrimination Allegations

BJP leader Nazia Elahi Khan confronts Lenskart management at a Mumbai store over a controversial dress code policy allegedly targeting Hindu religious symbols. The viral incident involves accusations of Sharia influence, the application of tilak to staff, and demands for the CEO's arrest, sparking a massive social media debate on workplace religious freedom and corporate guidelines.

The dress code controversy surrounding Lenskart has intensified following a high-profile visit by BJP minority leader Nazia Elahi Khan to a company store in Mumbai’s Andheri district. In a viral video shared on X, Khan is seen engaging in a heated confrontation with the store manager, raising pointed questions regarding the company's internal operations and the alleged discouragement of Hindu religious symbols such as tilak and kalawa among staff. During the recorded encounter, Khan pointedly asked the manager if there was an intention to implement Sharia law within the premises. The footage captures the BJP leader moving through the store and actively applying tilak to the foreheads of Hindu employees while chanting the slogan Har Har Mahadev, asserting that there is a deliberate attempt to suppress Hindu customs at the workplace.

The allegations leveled by Nazia Elahi Khan extend beyond workplace policy, as she claimed the company intentionally appointed a Muslim manager to limit Hindu rituals among the workforce. Escalating the matter further, Khan demanded the arrest of the Lenskart owner and raised provocative questions regarding potential links to terrorist organizations. Her social media post tagged high-ranking officials and agencies, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office, the National Investigation Agency, and the National Security Guard. While the company has not issued a fresh official statement following this specific confrontation, Lenskart founder and CEO Peyush Bansal previously clarified that the viral document cited in earlier reports was an outdated training note and did not reflect current HR policy. Bansal stated that the mention of bindi and tilak was an error that had already been rectified, emphasizing that the document was not representative of the brand's actual guidelines. This incident has ignited a massive debate across social media, highlighting the volatile intersection of corporate policy and religious identity.
